I have a problem with shutting down my running tasks. On certain programs such as a game I play it tells you to cntrl, alt, delete and shut everything down except systray, and explorer. When I try to do this I get an illegal operation. Then the comp freezes and I have to try to shut down. When I try to shut down every running program performs an illegal opperation! I am stumped. I am running a Win 98 os, P-2 400 mhz processor, 192 mb ram. I have just finnished reformatting and installing everything without a twitch. I also did all the windows updates, and installed norton av 2004, and checked to see if I had any IRQ conflicts and I dont. One of my running tasks is a Rundll.32 and this seems to be the one causing the problem. This program is related to my GeForce2 MX/MX400 pci video card so I dont think its a bug. Thanks in advance for any help.

get the latest updates on all of your drivers....have you tried running setup on your windows? not updates...i mean reinstalling through setup?
that would refresh some files. tell me if you fixed it and how you did it. thanks.

rundll is a system file, unless its heavily corrupted (and after a fresh install it shouldnt be) its not the problem. nortons is probably the problem. generally, when a program tells you to shut down everything else, ignore it.
anyway, you shouldnt end task on things you can shut down other ways, it tends to screw up the system.
