Gamecube HELP!

Ok. I've had my nintendo gamecube for about a year now. like 4 months ago i started having problems with it. sometimes it would stop readint the disk adn ask me to turn it off. After a while, it went away, but then, it stopped reading every disk, period. it doesnt work anymore...im was wondering what can i do to fix the problem? (No..i havent called nintendo, and im not willing to call)...
keep in mind in not a nub when it coms to electronics...i was hoping someone could tell me if i should open the gamecube adn calibrate the lasser that reads the disk, or something like that...
but my real problem is.. I DONT KNOW HOW TO OPEN THE DAMN THING, lol...what type of tool should i use?....
