Help! New Compy wont even start up!

First off, the systems specs are:

Biostar M7NCD Ultra Nforce2 v1.0 Mobo
x1 Stick of PNY 512 2700 DDR ram
AMD Athlon XP 2800+
Gainward GeForce FX 5900
120 gig 8mb cache Western Digital

The main problem: When ever we turn the computer on, you can here the equipment begin to start up, but the monitor stays in stand by mode. Everything is plugged in properly, but after everything we tried, we still cant get anything to show on the monitor. The monitor works fine; we tested it on another computer. When we hooked up the new system to the old monitor, it does that same thing. There is no BEEP! when we first turn it on... all there is is the CD, HDD, CPU, VPU, fans whirling. Its like the big power cable from the PSU to the mobo has a few bad wires, but we cant tell. Is there any, ANY technical assitance we can get? Thanks bunches!!

Okay,

I'm no tech god but I had this same problem yesterday because I was messing with my bios voltages. I had the same sysmptoms though. Try resetting your bios to its factory default. To do this you should check out your manual and see if your motherboard has a jumper to achieve this. If it doesn't have a jumper then pop out the cmos battery for 15 min and then plug it back in. That should reset the bios. Goodluck.

It could also be a shorted motherboard. Make sure you have insulators installed between your motherboard and your chassis.

set it up outside of the case to check for short

I would agree that the first thing to try would be the jumper, thats helped me out of many-a-scrape. Keep us updated though on what's happening, it sounds like you got an awesome setup I'd hate for you to go too long without working.

We tested the RAM, and it checked out. Today will screw with the PSU, and if that doesn't work, we're going to send it back for new stuff. Thanks for all the advice so far, and army, that's my friends starter compy. My specs are:

Atlon XP 2500+ OC'ed to 2900
ATI Radeon 9800 pro
1 Gig pc2700 Kingston
Biostar Ultra 1.0 mobo
250 Gig's o Space on x2 WD 8mb Cache 7200
