need help i have xp and when i try to get on bnet it gives me error message can i fix my self with a patch or program

Posted by: abda53com

check your firewall settings if you have any for blocked ports.. check if bnet is even active.. do a ping on the ip address/port that your trying to connect to

Posted by: NegotiatorSmith

Please don't make multiple threads about your problem, it isn't necessary.

What error message do you get when you try to connect to Battle.net with Starcraft?

When was the last time you could connect?

Can you connect to any of the gateways?

Yes, if you have a firewall, make sure it's allowing Starcraft to "access the Internet".

Unfortunately, pinging a Battle.net server doesn't get you a response anymore, as Blizzard is now blocking ICMP packets destined for Battle.net.

Battle.net is up right now, as I'm on it playing a game at this moment. Most likely the problem is something on your end, hi23.

it says unadle to connect to modem plz manuly conntect to enternet but i have cable
no i cant conect to any thing
how do i let starcraft thought fire wall

Posted by: NegotiatorSmith

hi23, I see. Here's what I'd like you to do: attempt to connect to any gateway again, then look for a file named bnetlog.txt in your Starcraft directory (i.e. C:\Program Files\Starcraft). Open it up and copy/paste its contents into your next post. The connection log should tell us what the problem is.

Posted by: hi23

last time i could connect was about3 weeks ago

is that just like try to connect to starcraft
i dont know what a gateway is

Posted by: NegotiatorSmith

The gateways are USEast, USWest, Europe and Asia. Try to connect to any of them with Starcraft, then post the contents of your bnetlog.txt file.

Posted by: hi23

i cant do that i deleted my file to see if it would fix it but now i dont have east west or any thing cause i havent been able to make it

Posted by: NegotiatorSmith

What file did you delete?

What is there instead of USWest, USEast, etc. now?

Posted by: hi23

nothing just battle net and connect
i uninstaled star craft to see if it whould fix the error
then reistalled it

Posted by: NegotiatorSmith

Ohh... if you don't see the gateways listed, I bet that you haven't downloaded and applied the latest patch for the game yet. Are you trying to connect with the original Starcraft or Brood War? I will give you a link to the latest patch for the game if you give me that info.

Posted by: hi23

want me to put in brood wars iv got origenal the sec

Posted by: NegotiatorSmith

If you have Brood War and you haven't installed it yet, please install it, and then click this link:

http://ftp.blizzard.com/pub/broodwa...s/PC/BW-110.exe

Save the file somewhere where you'll remember where it is, then double-click it to apply the patch. After you do that, try to connect to Battle.net again.

Posted by: hi23

i saved it an the eastus an all isnt there it says looking for fastest rout to battle net server
----------
then it freezes and when i push cancal it messes up and i have to take the cd out
----------
never mind it worked but now it say my try ing to connect to ivalid bnet server
----------
it sayes go to www.battle.net/sopprot/errormessage/ an ive already been there and it usless

Posted by: NegotiatorSmith

After you saved the .exe file, did you actually double-click on it and apply the patch?

Posted by: hi23

it didnt have the option it said make sure cdrom is in then click ok the th west east an erope an asia was on battle net but i cant conetct still

it saved

Posted by: NegotiatorSmith

How can there not be an option to double-click on the exe file? Just put your cursor on it and click your mouse twice rapidly!

Are you saying that you did double-click it, but when the patcher started up, it asked you to put the CD in the CD-ROM drive? Was the CD in the drive?

Are you also saying that you have applied the patch now and the gateways are there, but you still can't connect? If that's the case, please go to your Starcraft directory and post the contents of the bnetlog.txt file.

Posted by: hi23

sorry i just applyed it ill try again
it still didnt connect and option r there
www.starcraftdirector or where do i post contents of the bnetlog.txt file

Posted by: NegotiatorSmith

Please simply copy and paste the contents of the bnetlog.txt file into your next post.

Posted by: hi23

where is bnetlog.txt
what do i copy and past

Posted by: NegotiatorSmith

As I said before, the bnetlog.txt file is located in your Starcraft directory on your hard drive. The default directory for a Starcraft installation is C:\Program Files\Starcraft. To copy and paste the contents of the file into your next post, select all of the text with your mouse, right-click on the text while it's highlighted and click Copy, then come back to your reply window (the big white box where you type things you want to say on these forums), right-click in it and click Paste.

Posted by: NegotiatorSmith

Okay... that error can come up if a software firewall is preventing Starcraft from connecting to Battle.net. If you have a software firewall installed, right-click on its icon in the taskbar (next to the clock) and click Disable or any equivalent option. Once you've done that, try connecting again.

Posted by: hi23

1 sec it didnt work is there another way to ture off fire wall

Posted by: NegotiatorSmith

Yes, the way to completely disable your firewall is to go into your Task Manager and end all processes associated with it.

What is the name of your firewall?

Posted by: hi23

it wont let me get on starcraft i allwaz get error message

norton antivirus

i think its my firwall but i cant figyur out how to disable all the way

Posted by: NegotiatorSmith

Norton Antivirus isn't a firewall, but Norton Internet Security is. Do you have that?

Posted by: hi23

yes thats what it is my mom bot it

Posted by: NegotiatorSmith

Okay... if you see any of the following processes in your Task Manager, close them:

ccApp.exe
CCEVTMGR.exe
CCPXYSVC.exe
NISUM.exe

Posted by: hi23

where is task manager i can find it

is it in norton icon

it says status scan for virus and report

Posted by: NegotiatorSmith

No, the Task Manager isn't in Norton's settings. Hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete, click the Task Manager button, click the Processes tab, and then shut down the processes I mentioned.

Posted by: hi23

the only one i fould ccapp.exe and i canseled

it still wont let me conect

Posted by: Ack1027

Negotiator, you're really patient and I admire it, but I think this guy is messing with you.

Posted by: NegotiatorSmith

Ack1027, look at this profile, he's *really* young. He doesn't seem to understand that he isn't always going to get a response right away. I doubt that he's messing with me, I think that he's just umm... not as mature as you and I.

hi23, I see. Here's what I'd like you to do: click Start, click Run, type msconfig into the box and click OK. When msconfig comes up, click the Selective Startup radio button (button with a black dot in it), then uncheck the Load Startup items box. Click OK, restart your computer and try to connect again. See what happens.

Unfortunately, I think NegotiatorSmith has helped enough, and this kid really seems like he's messing with ya (too young? born on 1998 makes him 6 years old, and he could already write and make typos, lol!)

This forum is not a chatroom, so I don't think he should treat it as one. Topic closed...
