Hey, ive got a pc intact and working but i was wondering to get a new case how do i define which case can i & cant i have.

I want an Antec AMG type case, at the moment i have an ATX 6059 in white made by Artec & Arche Computer systems. I have an AMD 2800+ Athlon Pro, NVidia GForce 4 mx440 vid card, and everything else nice n dandy, but the case is ugly!!!!!!!

Im wanting a locking front, see thru side panel with lock, a 80mm Antec illuminative fan. I want a chrome, black metal, steel look. Im also thinking about getting a new gigabye Pro2 Nforce2 Motherboard & Pentium 4 pro, 19" monitor later on. But can i swap parts between my current pc and parts ill be getting? +any other solutions or complications that may happen?

any case should be fine.. just go off of what you have, and what you want. dont get a mid size case if you got a big motherboard, or want to hold 6 harddrives.. i know my motherboard didnt even fit into my mid size case, so you want to make sure you got room. also drive space, etc.. also consider space for air and cooling so you dont fry anything

all the extra stuff like usb connections in the front of the case or whatever, your case will need that if you want it, but so will your board.

any atx case will fit the motherboard.

part swapping can only be done with compatable parts. an intel chipset motherboard cannot take an amd. a amd chipset mobo cant use a pentium. the ram also has to be compatable. most other hardware can be changed without much of a problem.

case: cooling first, looks second. check out antec first, then move on if they dont have something you like. look for at least 4 fan slots, if not more. assuming you will be replacing the pos video card, a full or server tower is a must, with a 400W+ power supply. youre looking for an atx case, which most should be.

ThermalTake has some nice cases as well, but they are a bit more in the cash department. Or, you could go all out and buy a Koolance...

you can just build a case.
out of wood.

i wanted to do a case mod. called the caseless case. where all the parts are just nailed to the wall. cooling? just run a house fan in its direction.

How do you support certain componants such as the video card? Wouldn't it rip your AGP slot clean off?

I have all specs now:

ATX 6059 now going up to an Antec AMG within size.
Nvidia GForce4 MX 440, no upgrade.
40Gb HD going up to a 120Gb seagate.
Upgrade from 17" to 19" monitor.
DVD rom now but adding a Cd-Rw drive.
Adding a PCI wireless network card, also a tri port PCI card for Firewire.

I have the Motherboard i need now, also everything else. Now its just time to get win2k, as i dont really like XP.
