How to "un-synchronize" memory

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I recently messed up my 2.26B CPU and intend to buy a new 3.2C (Intel Pentium 4). The problem is, however, that I have a DDR266 DIMM and it runs synchronous with the front side bus. I don't have enough cash to buy a new DIMM just yet, so I was wondering if there was any way to "un-synchronize" the RAM. I really think the RAM will just catch fire or something if I run it at DDR400

My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-8I875 with Intel's 875P chipset.

not all motherboards support a seperate bus for ram. if yours does, it will be a setting in the bios. take a look the next time you boot, or check your manual.

You should probably just run the P4C at the same speed as the ram you have now (133 sys bus) until you can buy some PC3200 ram.
