Microphone Stop Working

I can hear people talk but I cannot talk back to them in counter strike or anything. I press k and I can hear them but I cannot talk back.
Before it worked good for a while and then it stoped working all of a sudden.
When I press K like it suppose to be for answering nothing happens. And I don't see the mic on the screen like it suppose to show for me talk.

Check the software that controls your microphone and rest of the audio input and output levels, sound mixer. In my PC it is Creative Sound Blaster Live/Surround Mixer, i.e. I can control audio input devices.
Check also the microphone with your HI FI system if is removable one, sometimes the connector, socket or the lead can be open circuit, i.e broken.
