Abit NF7 motherboard fan trouble

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I just got a new Abit NF7 mobo, and the little fan on the motherboard (i forget the name of whatever it is cooling) makes an annoying vibrating noise when it is vertical. If the case is laying on it's side it is fine, but the second it gets more than about 20 degrees within vertical it starts rattling away.

The fan is held down by two screws with springs under them, and it seems to be quite tight. Has anbody else had this problem? It'll be covered by the warranty, I'd just rather not have to go without my new mobo for however long it takes. Any suggestions?

If you're not overclocking, it should be just fine if you unplug the fan. If you don't want take that risk you can always buy a suitable replacement such as this or this.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I'm not overclocking, so the idea of unplugging the fan seems interesting, less noise would certainly be welcome from my box.

Will unplugging it be completely without problems? The fan seems to be mounted directly to the board, with no heatsink. I'll call the retailer, and see if running it without the fan will void the warranty. If not, I'll give it a go.
