CHeap pc for playing Counter-strike

I am looking to buy parts to build a cheap gaming pc, so as my little brother will stop using mine to play counter strike.
Can someone please give me some ideas as to what motherboard and processor and also the graphics card i should go for..
So far i have choosen the following parts..
Asus A7N8X Deluxe £50
Asus 9600SE radeon £60
Atholon 2600+ processor £50
Hard drive (anything around the £50 mark)
atleast 512mb Generic cheap memory Pc3200 though.
at most for the abve components i can afford to waste £275 of my student loan....
any help would be appreciated
i myself dont know much about the atholon stuff, mainly researched into petium 4 stuff...etc...

oh my brother. i played CS on my old P2 333, PC133 256 RAM, Voodoo3 32MB. no problemo. i owned them anyway.
you wouldnt go for these specs for gaming rig nowadays, your specs seems just about right for low end games that are out now. i still play Warcraft3 on Athlon 1.0 with 256 RAM.
your spec seems right for your need.

thanks for the info......my cousin told me to get the 3000+ processor!! but at £100 thats quite a bit more! maybe if.....

Xbox ($149) + Xbox Live ($50) + Counter-Strike ($30) = Profit
That would be the cheapest route.

unfortunately..he wants to play counter strike using STEAM!! and Xbox, only allows you to used ther Xbox live servers to play against one and another.
And yeah i did think of that route as it was cheaper...
oh well...
he has at the moment a pc with the follow specs
PIII 650MHz
512Ram
2 x 20Gb hard drives
Ricoh 16 x cdrw
400watt psu
NEC DIRECTION UNIT!!!
my plan is to keep the case and PSU, upgrade all the rest of the part...
atleast if he updates the pc he wont be able to complain he has a slow rubbish one!!
he is only 9 so i can not get him anything too exspensive, he has a habit of dropping drinks all the time on the keyboard! and even managed to spill coca cola all over my new logitech optical mouse when i bought it!!!
