resetting settings
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Ok, so I have this computer I bought from the school district, actually it's a comp I put together from the 4 comps I bought, but anyways, it only came with one drive originally and I want to put in a DVD drive also.
So anyways, my problem is that there is a password on the settings and I need to change the "Secondary Drive 1" option to Auto instead of None.
How do I reset the settings?

resetting the cmos might work. that should be a jumper on the motherboard, check the manual for instructions. if that doesnt do it, remove the cmos battery, and put the jumper to clear and leave it for a day. although it might take only a couple hours.
of course, i would be tempted to call whoever is in charge of the sales from the school district and have a nice chat with them about providing passwords or removing them prior to sale.

Alright I'll try that, but before I do, can that have any bad side effects on the computer?
And about the school district, I'm not too upset about the passwords, and here's why:
The four computers I bought= $4.00
The four keyboards I bought= $4.00
The three monitors I bought= $3.00
The two large network hubs I bought= $2.00
And all the RJ-45s, Power Cords, and Mice I wanted= FREE!
So I'm not to upset. Except I wish I had grabbed a few iMacs. Those were going for $5.00 each.

Oh, and I don't have the manual so what does the jumper look like? Is it like the Master, Slave, CSEL switch on the drives?
I located the battery though.

Yes exactily, cept it is located on the motherboard most commly around the BOIS chip or the CMOS Battery

Here is what I'm looking at:

What do I do?

What's the matter guys? Is the picture that bad?
It's a jumper with 10 sets of pins. The first set (on the farthest right) has the letters PSWD by it, which I assume means password. The second set says BIOS, and the rest of the sets just has a bunch of random letters and numbers by them. Well they look random to me anyways.
Anyway none of the sets say "clear" by them.

I found the solution to my problem. Go check out my other post on "How to bypass BIOS passwords"
Oh, and thank you guys for taking time to help. It's much appreciated.
