I am suddenly having problems with my D drive. I have had a 4 x lg dvdburner for sometime. I am running it with xp pro and hasn't been an issue.Have been doing alot of dvd back ups with DVDXCOPY Nero etc and put another (cd )program in the drive to find it would not install. Decided to check other cd programs that i have and found that less than a quarter will autoplay and install. All the rest won't run. Finally now a several Windows error messages keep appearing on screen saying several times dwwin.exe - no disk, can't run 16 bit program, The wrong volume is in the drive. Please insert volume IB2002SE into drive D:. All when there is no disk in the drive and the drive tray is shut. (never had this issue before)
I also had issues loading digital camera software. Got the software on eventually but the system rebooted 5 times while downloading images from camera. Have 20G space and 256 ram so shouldn.t be an issue. Had a message about virtual memory last week, is there a connection or is it co-incidence. I have the system determining VM. currently at 275MB
Everything else seems to be working OK.
Going crazy.. Please help

Virtual memory is using hard drive space as RAM, and it's very slow and unreliable.
I'd reccomend a repair install of XP at least, if not a full reinstall. Do you have more than one pc, and if so, are they networked? That would be the best way to backup files considering your cd burner is down.

probably just a build up of corrupted files. a scandisk and defrag might fix it, a repair installation should if not.
