Gigabyte Ga-8knxp Boot Up With Sata Issue

does anyone know how to use the sata hard drive as the boot up device?...i tried that back when i built the pc, and eventualy gave up. Instead i used a 120Gb ide hard drive. anyway

if someone has managed to use sata as main boot up device let me know how it was done...its just i wanna buy that raptor hard drive as its really fast...

You need to create a floppy with your sata drivers on them. Then when you run the windows boot cd, it will ask you to press F6 if you need to install a third party sata driver. Go ahead and install it off the floppy, then you can install windows on your sata, and boot from it.

OH man you dont believe how thankful i am, the problem initially was, that my cousin and brother who are / were into pcs, are new to sata..and therefore werent sure how to install it.

so they insisted that i buy a ide hard drive as that will guarantee the pc to work fine.

anyway thanks for the help.

i will be looking forward to installing xp on the new hard drive..
