Cannot delete afile

I cannot delete a file or it's parent folder.

I've tried booting in safemode and using a command prompt but it won't allow me to delete it.

It says cannot delete, cannot find " my file name"

Make sure you specify correct path and file name.

Yet it shows the file name in quotes.

well, if it cant find it, its not going to delete it. what youre attempting to delete is not what youre typing in. use wildcards if you have to. it might also be a corrupted registry entry, run a cleaner to find it.

Thanks redwench for responding...

I have run three registry cleaners to date. Regclean, CleanReg, and Registry Mechanic. And none of them find it. I have run Regedit and searched for the file and can't find it.

The Conundrum is that it gives the name of the file in the error message but then says it can't find it.

I'm assuming that it's a corrupt folder but so far I've not found a tool that can find it and fix it.

it will give whatever file name you put in, if youre talking about the command prompt delete

if a scandisk doesnt repair, i guess youre stuck with a visitor. assuming you dont want to do something silly like format :P
