i had to got my old computer out and set it up for my mom since i got a wireless network, but anyways, so i reinstalled windows 2000 pro on that computer and now it has random reboots (this has happened before)

biostar m6vcg motherboard (driver that's been used, chipest driver only)
pIII 733MHz
nvidia geforce 4 mx420 (driver that's been used)
sound blaster PCI 128 (driver that's been used, 3rd one down, i didn't install the webupdate)
2x 128mb RAM sticks 133MHz
d-link dwl-g510 wireless PCI adapter (driver that's been used)

all windows 2000 critical update patch has been installed

thanks

assuming you did a nice repartition and format before putting the OS on, take out the networking stuff, and make sure its running off a ups. also monitor the temperature. if its still doing the funky chicken, run a memory tester such as www.memtest.org

yeah, i reformatted using the NTFS system, and i put the NIC in after i installed windows and its driver, and it's running on a cheap UPS, and let me do a www.memtest.org

also, i don't want to make another thread but both my CRT monitors are out of wack (for example, trapazoid, rotation, pin balance, parallelogram, and side pin) i tried to adjust them using the OSD but i can never get them straight, the monitors are kds visual sensation 19" and amptron gs17e 17"

thanks again

edit: the mem test is 50% done and i'm getting 3588 errors... are there ways to fix the errors or will i have to buy new memory sticks, oh also, i have 3 memory sticks, 1x 128mb @ 133MHz is one brand and 2x 128 mb @ 133 MHz is another brand, will that matter?

edit2: test finished w/ around 54800 errors... what does that mean?

bad stick of ram. and it will f up the os files, replace the ram, and reinstall the os.

are all 3 of them are bad or just one?

edit: i am swapping each memory module out and testing see which one is the faulty one, but how are you suppose to put in a memory stick? 'cause every time i put it in and i turn on the computer, at start up, the computer gives me the beep... beep... and i had to turn my computer off and reset the ram, took me 465498481984454648984 tries!

edit2: solved, figured out the bad module, reinstalling windows right now, can somebody please help me out w/ the monitor problem? thanks
