A problem with hotmail

I use Windows XP and recently I added a broadband router to my computer so that I could access the internet on my laptop, wirelessly. Ever since doing this I have been unable to logon to my hotmail. I suspect some kind of firewall issue but I have been unable to fix the problem. Can anyone tell me what is wrong and how to fix it?
