if i get a new xbox can i store game info on my pc? (i don't want to get a mem. pack)

Posted by: Null Actor

No, but the xbox has a harddrive built in, so you can save all your games to the harddrive. No need to buy a separate memory card.

I think what he means is he has an Xbox now, and he needs to get a new one, and wants to transfer his saves/etc to the new one, without a memory card pack.

I dont think thats possible. Just buy a cheapo card and use that.

Yeah, the memory card is your only bet.

If stores near you dont carry the cheaper non MS ones, you can find third party ones on Ebay for cheap

Unfortunately, however, a lot of games don't support the memory card for save games, either because they create a page file (Ninja Gaiden for example) or the save games are just too damn big.

A friend of mine just had to buy a new Xbox because his other one had a defective dvd drive and it finally failed.
He opted for the new translucent 'Halo' Xbox for $180 instead of having MS fix his box for $60 though.

$60?!

When I called up about the whole DVD drive situation (which was sent in last year and fixed for free but the problem is starting to pop up again ), they told me it'd be $100.

Huh. They told him $60. He had a first generation console. They told him the first few productions had faulty drives and they switched to a different one after that. They were surprised it lasted as long as it did.

I have first generation also. I got it fixed a year ago for free, but the problem is coming up again. When I called up about it, they insisted it would cost me $100.
