Wife don't like dogs? Well I got the solution.
http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INT...7%2fW&Dept=AIBO
Hmmm the decision between a new laptop and this is becoming harder just because of my curiosty on how good this thing works.
Posted by: armystud0911
lol, imagine hearing your neighbors "Honey the dog was off the charger all night how long do you expect him to go on just one lithiun ion battery!"
Posted by: Gerbilo
that's rediculous... I want one merely to harrass my lazy cats with haha
Posted by: RAcastClarke
Man, I hope it doesn't leave any piles of batteies in the corner...they're always so hard to clean up...
Posted by: IceBreaker
Does it also chase cats? http://www.fintoys.net/yabb/yabbimages/smilies/grin.gif
Posted by: Bix VT
$1800 for a robotic dog? no way man!
And cat chasing=bad. Cats rule man. Although I must admit...I sure wouldn't ever pay $1800 for a robo cat...why pay that much for something that just lays around all day?

CATS ARE EVIL!
Cats: Scratch your hand for making them sleep outside
Dogs: Lick your hand for letting them back in
Cats: Tear your shoes to pieces
Dogs: Fetch you your slippers
And finally,
Dog: "My owners feed me and take care of me: they must be gods!"
Cat: "My owners feed me and take care of me: I must be a god!"

Exactly.
I'd much rather have a pet with intelligence than a dumb animal that loves me no matter what...I guess I just prefer a challenge.
But then, the French have always been the first to surrender...http://instagiber.net/smiliesdotcom...ind/tongue5.gif

You call this "intelligence"? http://forum.presence-pc.com/images/perso/666%20.gif
Also, would the same apply later on to your children? Having THEM order you around & challenge you all the time? Good luck http://forum.presence-pc.com/images/perso/ddt.gif

I do call it intelligence. Who is smarter? The one working, or the one doing the work? A cat lives a luxurious life.
And yes, for example, WWII. Need I say more?
The voters didn't surrender...it's usually called sucking it up when something doesn't go your way. It's called a "Democratic Republic". Besides that, Bush is a much better president than Gore would have ever been. Need I quote Gore in a speech gives shortly after 9/11: "America needs to do what it needs to do."
Don't argue, America PWNS

Bah, Bush is your president anyways not ours so I'm not concerned. Sort it out.

yeah u got that right america owns US americans
hey and aint u forgetting it aint us who voted 4 bush but its them guys in the supreme court who did
Posted by: Bix VT
The cat knows how to work the system. It gives it's owner token payments of affection, just enough to recieve food and lodging, not to mention petting, but doesn't give it's owner so much affection as to lose it's dignity.
And Fury: I might ask, who voted those justices into the supreme court?
Posted by: IceBreaker
So I take it when KIDS (yes, humans, ie. more "evolved" than animals) obey their parents, they also lose their dignity? http://forum.presence-pc.com/images/perso/xam.gif
You said it, the cat gives its owner "payment" for its food & lodging - it's a sort of a contract.
It is not quite so with dogs. Try to feed someone else's dog: they will NOT eat
AFAIK, it's the President nominates the Chief Justices, not the people. But then again, I don't know the fine print
Posted by: Bix VT
Well, when kids obey thier parents it's generally because they've 1. been raised to do so, or 2. obey for thier own reasons, such as not wanting to be beaten into a pile of soft quishy red pulp.
And I don't know what you're talking about with not being able to feed dogs that aren't yours...I feed other people dogs all the time (and no, not poison)
It is irrelevant, since the supreme court does not decide who the next president is, the Electoral College does. And the people do vote in thier representitives. But we should get off politics, as it is always a sensitive subject, and nobody goes away happy.

http://forum.presence-pc.com/images/nono.gif Not dogs whose owners you're not acquainted with. If the dog doesn't trust you, you might as well be trying to feed a brick wall..

I think he was talking about the US 2000 elections only, for as far as I heard the context in which these took place was indeed rather exceptional...

Half right there - those who are elected always go away happy
Posted by: Bix VT
Ugh. I don't have the mental energy to make 12 different quotes in every post.
I was talking about random dogs you meet while walking down the street. Quite often I'll be walking down the street and see a dog with it's owner walking towards me...and I'll stop and say hi, talk to the owner about the dog and, if it's alright with the owner, feed the dog some of the beef jerky I carry with me whenever I go on a walk. The dog usually has no problem with it. It must be that the French dogs are *coughs* snobby or something...
As for the 2000 election...it was exceptional. Quite a race. And, assuming the justices were responsible for Bush being elected...that would mean that Clinton had put them in office? But then...wouldn't they have ruled in favor of gore, if in fact they were biased? Or was Clinton just so bad that they wanted a Republican for a change? I can't say for sure, but I do know one thing: my participation in this political debate is over. I was just "corrected" by Tecil for being off-topic, so I need to become a good boy again...

Can't help it, can you? :sarcastic:
Besides, British Bulldog has always been my favourite & will always be - living in France hasn't changed that

Thx for the 'angel' smilie. Just copied it.

No, I can't help poking fun at the French...
Do you have AIM? If not, you should get it so we can compare and share smilies...

Hmm...my prognosis: a complex. Fear not, it can be cured - I think
I got along with them fairly well since I came to live there. But french women must be avoided at all costs

AIM?
What's that & what does it stand for?
Posted by: Bix VT
Yes...I can't stop...http://www.computerpannen.com/cwm/cwm/cwm/errrr.gif
AIM is AOL Instand Messanger. www.aim.com
It's a chat program like IRC.
Posted by: armystud0911
Sounds like things are getting pretty heated here, I believe the post was about a DOG, and here we are already bringing politics. I have my beliefs but I'm gonna keep them off this thread.
AIM is AOL (america online) instant messenger, you can download it off off of the aol homepage. Sounds like they want to discuss this AWAY from the forum posts. That way everyone is happy and you guys can duke it out on instant messenger, lol.
Posted by: Bix VT
Exactly. And I don't get banned by certain moderators...

MEGA-LOLOL this offsite smilie is also part of the OTS database! http://forum.presence-pc.com/images/perso/_q2_.gif

Oh, like the OTS 'General & Offtopic' forum (hehe )
Posted by: IceBreaker
Oh, and btw 'Rants & Raves' forum is also supposed to accomodate such debates, but strangely, although I asked for access to this forum quite some time ago (filling the contact form in due process) I never got an answer..
Now I wonder if this R&R forum even exists http://www.opentechsupport.net/foru...icons/icon5.gif

Is it now? Now that I look I see that it is indeed...lol nice catch.

I never used a chat messenger thingamagig before. I only know that they require an open port on the PC - and when adding this to the fact that messengers are known have exploits..
I don't even know how these things work - basically, a chat messenger is exactly the same thing as a forum (many users posting, etc), but minus the moderators?
I don't know about you, but I still can't access the Rants & Raves forum. It's a pity
Posted by: Bix VT
Well, an IM client isn't like this forum...it doesn't have a 60 second post limit. Plus you really don't have to quote people on it...AIM is 1 on 1 though, unless you open up a chat room...so it's really more like talking on the phone...only with text.
(get aim)

1 on 1? Like a phone eh? Damn, I tend to fall asleep during phone calls
I like "melee mode" (like in UT2003 ), forum style, MUCH more fun, others can join in, that's one of the benefits of Internet btw
(Get R&R access)
Posted by: Bix VT
I'm simply saying that for our private arguements that tend to get you (or, more often, me) in trouble we should use an IM client. This may be more fun, but it seems that our style of banter is not appreciated...

ice : about the exploits i think they have patches 4 im msngers a bit like with windoz
Posted by: Bix VT
Yeah I figured I'd be warned if I didn't stop...want access to that R&R though.
Posted by: IceBreaker
hmm - so I'm not the only one then
...Rants & Raves forum....the Forbidden Territory...Realm of the Unknown... no wonder it's so tempting..
Let us ALL ask to be granted access then! Let us speak in one voice, in unison! United we stand! Eventually, the mods WILL yield!
Posted by: Bix VT

Not guarenteed...I've seen the forum, but I can't post in it, which is really what it's there for anyway...
