User comments section

Maybe I'm just on a topic starting craze here but I have noticed since day 1 at this site that we don't ever use the "comments" section in our user profiles. If you've been here a while, and have been going back and forth with several OTS buddies, write a comment about them in their profile. It is a valuable resource that we have not taken advantage of plus its a chance for us to put an encouraging word in about others here at OTS. If you'll look around, I've already started to do so (not too much of course, that's just annoying)

I posted one for you
It is so true
Posted by: RAcastClarke
Yeah, I agree. Receiving a comment is always a welcome thing, though I don't know what it feels like..yet..
I feel the same way about the journals. Hardly anyone has them, yet they can be interesting to read. Someone start one up some time, they're fun..
Posted by: RAcastClarke
Hey! I just checked out my profile, and what do ya know?
Thanks armystud!
Posted by: Xoncide
I am above reading you peoples petty comments
Posted by: RAcastClarke
You'd like it if you got one. Admit it.
Posted by: armystud0911
Yeah but that wasn't at all why I posted this thread, I was appalled to see that some of most vocal members here at OTS don't even have comments on them, actually the only one I have seen in the past with a comment was Redwench but I am sure there were a few more.
Posted by: SKYHN
I think the reason people dont have or leave user comments is because people dont look at that feature.
Posted by: armystud0911
Yeah I totally agree, I think we should cuz it can be a valuible resource.

How many people even USE the User Control Panel other than when you first joined and chose your Avater and signature?

*Raises hand*
I use it frequently--several times a week atleast.
Posted by: Bunmiadefisayo
Ok we have one person who uses it at least
Posted by: Outlaw
I use the control panel too, and I think alot more people do. My avatar/location/title/signature change every once in a while.

I love you, man
Posted by: uh...ok
Many features here in OTS are merely here because they were packaged along with the default package of the latest version of vBulletin, and the user comments just happens to be one of them (though it's worth noting that many other features are exclusively here thanks to Laggy's hard work ).
Posted by: armystud0911
Ok, that makes sense, I still think we should use it though, newcomers often don't know what to think about various members when they first arrive.
Posted by: Bunmiadefisayo
Why should newcomers "think" about members here? Frankly once i have chosen my avater and my signature, then thats it!!
Posted by: SpecOpsHoov
Then newcomers should lurk or reply wisely before stepping out on the wrong foot.

Your signature bothers me… a lot.

why on earth should it? Its simply the truth y'know.
Posted by: RAcastClarke
Heh, I like the signature. Gave me a whole new perspective on motion, although I'm not sure if I accept it entirely.
The comments thing is an overlooked feature, but I think it's good idea anyway. Always gotta appreciate when someone likes ya enough to post one.
User Control Panel wise, I update it when necessary. The avatar isn't gonna change, as it's one of the few PSO avatars I could find. Also, the engrish is probably gonna stick too, as it's just so awesome...
Posted by: Bix VT
You should change your location to something like "winning great justice"
Posted by: RAcastClarke
For great justice? Ha, ha ha... I think I will...
Randomly, has anyone been reading my journal? Just curious...
Posted by: Bix VT
LOL Launching ZIG is good too...
Posted by: RAcastClarke
Heh, sigh..
I love AYB. It's funny stuff.
Don't think I can change my profile much more than that though...Otherwise it will ALL be AYB...don't want any war beginning 2101 AD...

right now i am taking applied calculus and econometrics.
Posted by: RAcastClarke
Heh, I'm only up to Pre-calculus, but I still get what is trying to be said about motion. I think it's interesting.
I like that kind of stuff, I guess I'm just a nerd.
Plan on majoring in quantum physics in college, actually...
Yowza.
Posted by: Bunmiadefisayo
Quantum physics huh? Well well...
Posted by: RAcastClarke
What's THAT supposed to mean, eh?

Thanks, I hope to pursue my major successfully. We'll see how it goes.

I’m majoring in physics too, math also.
Ok Bunmiadefisayo, take any position function and then take the first divertive in respect to time, plug in a few random integers for t, and look at the progression. All the silliness of that signature will be made apparent.
Your signature is actually an ancient objection to math in general. I forget the guys name but he came up with 5 paradox’s of math which were all eventually disproved. That is one of them. It was disproved with the advent of the limit and differential calculus.

Hey Xenocide, my signature came from Zeno. he was a monoist and a student of Parmenides. Monoism means that he beleived everything was metaphysically One. I remeber the other paradoxes
-The swifter can never overtake the slower
- The arrow in flight is not actually in flight but is still
-and some other crap about objects with the same wieght and same moving at different velocities do not pass each other or somesuch.
The point is that his thinking was pretty darn complex for this time.
Oh and i major in Economics I only take these math classes becuase Economics in graduate school is all about math and i want to get mine as strong as possible.

It was pretty darn complex, but all were wrong and later proved so with higher mathematics. But his questions did help point early mathematicians in the direction they needed to go.
