(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: AK47

I was just wondering what programs you all use to get music nowadays considering Napster is dead. Im lookin for bootlegs of The Doors live and I was curious where I could find such things.

Posted by: Ion Silverbolt

I have good success with limewire.

btw..I always buy stuff I like. :P

Posted by: AK47

hmmm, Ill have to try that one- thanks

and yeah- i buy it too, Im just lookin for the rare stuff

Posted by: uh...ok

AudioGalaxy is good...

-uh...ok

Posted by: Spider

I use limewire too.
But only because I haven't found anything better
I hate the interface, it's horrid.

Posted by: TheWizKid

i use audio galaxy.its not as fast as napster thought miss napster

Posted by: taco_fox

The program I use right now is Gnotella. I haven't really used it much, but it's pretty decent.

Posted by: Outlaw

Harness the power of 2000 electronic donkeys! (www.edonkey2000.com)

do NOT try to get music with this, somehow I never managed to get ANY music file with it, however, for movies it works pretty good

Posted by: Gerbilo

imesh... directconnect.. something like that, bearshare

Posted by: Auruspex

i use morpheus

Posted by: AK47

AudioGalaxy is awesome! This has exactly what Im lookin for- and lots of it. It is quite fast too. Thanks much

Posted by: TheeMon

i use morpheus P

Posted by: Pepsi-Man[OTS]

Posted by: AK47

Do what you will, but for me, AudioGalaxy has more of what I want- stuff that napster didnt have when it was good

Posted by: Pepsi-Man[OTS]

dude it has everything hehe i bet i can find anything u can think up. from funny parts of a movie to any music to something people record themselves and add cause they feel like it hehe. but i havent used anything but napster so u could be right urs might be better one of these days ill check it out im just cruising through ots at the moment =)

Posted by: uh...ok

Why go through all the trouble of looking for the right spelling for a song in Napster?

You don't have to do any kind of wordplay with AG.

-uh...ok

Posted by: Gerbilo

www.songspy.com

Posted by: AK47

You're right uh. AG is real nice

Posted by: SuperSlinky

I've heard AudioGalaxy installs some hidden files or something else on your PC. I found this on a newsgroup:

"Important message to all audiogalaxy members! the installation program of the AG satellite performs a hidden installation of a spy program called "WebHancer". It collects information about your habits when using the internet and sends them to some company. it is placed in the folder C:\Program Files\WebHancer and can be uninstalled easily by using windows' software uninstall program."

Get rid of AudioGalaxy, or at least get rid of that program. I know some people that love WinMX for trading media (http://www.winmx.com). There aren't any hidden surprises with it.

~SuperSlinky (piss off the RIAA even more, trade CD-R copies!)

Posted by: mjames

You're right, AudioGalaxy is spyware. I tried it and hate it. Morpheus is tremendous, I love it!

Posted by: AK47

Got rid of the audio galaxy satelite thing.

Morpheus can ram it- they dont have what im lookin for.

Posted by: Freak

I read somewhere Napster was completely shut down a few weeks ago.

I go to Direct Connect and leech off people with 30+ gbs of MP3s

Posted by: DrDeath_X

I don't know about limewire but i might give it a try later but for now i find that WINMX is quite good. Well that's only the Dr 's opinion.

Posted by: DemonBob

I just use KaZaa. FOund everything I needed so far

Posted by: TheWizKid

Isnt Npster 2 comming out?How much we gonna have to pay?

Posted by: SuperSlinky

The new Napster is supposed to be around $5. I forgot where I read that... however, Napster is dead. Forget about it and move on. It paved the way for free mp3 trading, and paid the price. Numerous other services have risen to the challenge, and the government will never be able to keep up. For every one service that shuts down, about 5 more will pop up.

~SuperSlinky (Get over it, Napster is done)

Posted by: Gerbilo

yup hehe

Posted by: uh...ok

I'm still using AG. I got rid of the WebHancer program a long, long time ago.

*shrug*

My registry's clean.

-uh...ok

Posted by: AK47

I never had the Webhancer thingie..

*double shrug

Posted by: SuperSlinky

Even if you don't have the webhancer program on your PC, I highly recommend downloading Ad-aware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com) and scan your system for known advertising systems. You can then remove them safley from your system. I just did it, and removed 285 componets on my system!!!

~SuperSlinky (AK47 might have alot from visiting all those pr0n sites )

Posted by: Chako

Thanks for the link...I found only 12 files on my system. 5 of those from double click...the ad company everyone loves to hate

Posted by: Gerbilo

audiogalaxy and song spy sucked, they were annoying and nothing got done, the only reason i was looking for a new proggy is because this morning imesh decided to fart or something.... idunno, it's getting back towards normal... i still might try another proggy hehe

Posted by: SuperSlinky

I've had a lot of luck with Bearshare (http://www.bearshare.com), part of the gnutella network. If that ever craps out on me, I'll try WinMX because I've heard a lot of good things about it. Get used to changing programs..... I've already been through Napster, Scour, and Imesh....

~SuperSlinky (mp3 trading cannot be stopped)

Posted by: elbarto24

try www.kazaa.com that's a pretty good place to use, and you can even watch the movies right on the program. as long as you have windows media player. limewire and AG are goos to though.

Posted by: Wargasm

KaZaa is the devil .. incredible how it invades your webbrowser . shitloads is being tracked .

when i got cable i used alot of the mentioned proggies . it was fun .. however security wise HELL!!!
when i want to see a movie i just rent it
when i want a music cd i go buy it .
and proggies no comment hehehe
i am not downloading the above anymore ..
i am not telling you ppl you should not use those proggies coz it is illegal . that would be super hypocrite from the person who got arrested for dealing warez years ago hehehe
but it takes down your security on your system .

Posted by: elbarto24

eh, i don't mind at all. I use it cause, it gets me what i need. and i'd rather spend my money on buying a good computer than, buying cd's and renting movies. it's nice to sit at home and watch movies on tv, but i like my computer screen, thank you very much.
Aye caramba! Don't have a cow, man

Posted by: mjames

DO NOT USE KAZAA, I REPEAT, DO NOT USE KAZAA! Hope that got your attention. Read:

heheh

I'm using Imesh and directconnect now

Posted by: TheWizKid

What the heck is spyware????I use Adio galixy...not good?
all i noticed is it is VERY VERY slow

Posted by: Canis Lupus

Spyware is software that monitors/retrieves personal information on your computer and sometimes transmits them back to whoever created or manages that software...

http://www.thebee.com/bweb/iinfo200.htm

Posted by: Canis Lupus

Oh, and here's a nice program to try if you suspect or wanna find out if you have spyware installed on your system:

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/aaw.html

Posted by: Ion Silverbolt

AD-aware rules. Very useful in getting rid of spyware.

Posted by: uh...ok

AudioGalaxy actually isn't that bad. The only thing that bothers me is the bandwidth it sucks up (because I assign about 70% of my bandwidth to AG). But on average, my download speeds are faster than Napster (in Napster, a "good" connection is 3.5+kbps, and with AG I average about 4+kbps).

The thing I like about AG is being able to queue downloads without worrying that they will become unavailable, and also the ability to continue downloads.

-uh...ok

Posted by: Bobaroo

well i use aimster, which has a good selection and tho not has fast as napster it gets the job done. And i have also heard that WINMX is pretty good.

Posted by: uh...ok

Aimster fox up your system though... at least my sister tried it and then she had to reformat...

-uh...ok

Posted by: Bobaroo

i haven't had any problems with it so far and i have had it for about 2-3 months. Hopefully it won't mess anything up!!

Posted by: uh...ok

Hmmm here's a question... does ZoneAlarm prevent spyware from accessing the 'net?

-uh...ok

Posted by: TotalRecall

I would doubt it, especially if the spyware accesses the net through it's own program...

Posted by: Wargasm

no zonealarm does not prevent it after all you giving the program access to a port on your computer and when it has granted acces it can send whatever it wants on that port .
infact no firewall will help you ..
you permit a program to have access to a port it can do whatever it wants .. downloading a few viri ? sure no problem hehe

Posted by: TheeMon

i had 184 compents found from useing that ad-ware ehhe

Posted by: uh...ok

So is this some kinda contest now? Who has the most ad-ware?

Oh and Wargy, I probably have dozens and dozens of virii on my computer by now... I'm just too lazy to download or look for a good anti-virus program. Besides, I dislike very much how they tend to slow the system down by a half.

-uh...ok
