Diablo II and LOD don't work

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

When i click on my D2 or LOD icons, the game doesnt start and the disc wont come out of the drive until i restart my computer. Does anyone have any suggestions to what i could do?

Never heard of that problem before... when did it start?

Posted by: Jimmi

I had the game working before, but i formatted my computer and i had to re-install it. I know i have all the drivers and everything because i have FFXI on my computer and it works fine. I just installed diablo today and it didn't work.

Most likely this problem is related to the Securom copy-protection that the game uses. Did you make sure to update your motherboard chipset drivers?

Just because FFXI works doesn't mean Diablo II will work.

My copy is legit, and i know i got all the right drivers for the comp.

Okay...but I'm just curious, where did you get the latest drivers for your motherboard chipset? What driver version is it?

I still think it's the Securom, and there are two experiments you could try -

a. Uninstall the game, reinstall it and apply the stand-alone version of an older patch. If the game starts up without any issues and you had the latest patch installed beforehand, then it's definitely Securom.
b. Use a no-CD crack (not supported here). If that works, that also tells you that it's Securom.

BTW, if you haven't actually applied the latest patch yet, get it here:

I re-installed the game, and it still does the same thing, except now the cursor changes into a spinning cd.

Yup, definitely a Securom issue. Please try all 12 of these steps:

If you've tried all of those steps and you're still having a problem, send Blizzard your system information and they should be able to help you:

I know when i play and click the icon the spinning cd comes up and it usually loads 30secs to 1 min later.

I've had this problem with other games, Mainly Master of Orion III. It;s a 50/50 shot when I try to boot it, and it always winds up taking a loong time to load.

I think I'm gonna check out that link.

Thanks.
