My playstation 2 was purchased at best buy and when i got it home, i played my games and that was fine but then later that night i decided to put in a dvd, and it then came up and sayed that i need a 4 digit code in order to watch it, well i put in 0000 and i have tried everything. have i done something wrong, i'm over warranty now and i still haven't figured it out, i hope you can help me. is there a master code or an overwrite code or something? please help!!!!!

That is the parental control code. The very first time you played a DVD, you should have had to set a code up. If you dont remember your code, enter 7444 and press select. This will reset the password, and you can make a new one.

i have done the steps to reset it and change parental control to off and every time i reset the machine it is set on lvl 1. i have just got the machine out of storage and i have no clue what to do. Does it have a bios battery that i have to replace?

You dont have to replace a battery. As far as I know, theres no way to turn the parental control off completely.
Is it really that hard to enter a 4 digit code?
