Internet Explorer Will Not Shutdown

Can't close Explorer 6.0, if I try shuts down system and restarts. Just downloaded all windows updates from windows update @ ms.com...ran adaware..can't defrag hard drive cause explorer won't shutdown, can't do system restore for same reason....can't figure out what's left to do to get this off my system cause it won't let me unistall either and I ran explorer autofix but guess what it doesn't! anybody help me? I give up

if youre talking about ie, why is it open when you boot up? if youre refering to windows explorer, you shouldnt be trying to kill it.
