MP Playing e.g. Kali?

Hi,
I'm wanting to play a few games with a mate but I don't want to go through servers like b.net etc... I know Kali works with a number of games but its going to cost my mate and me both $20US to get that software.
We want to play a few games via the lan option but through the internet like Kali.
The game in questions is Splinter Cell PT and Sacred.
Anyone know of a similar utility to Kali???
