Does anyone use email for Personal things anymore?

I was browsing through my email last night and I realized something, I havent sent out a personal email about anything to a friend or family member in over a year. I use it for all my other stuff like news, online purchases, ebay, etc. But Instant Messaging has totally replaced the personal part of email for me. And if I cant find someone with Aim(thats all I use) I can usually find them in a game.
Am I alone in this?

I know I use email for personal stuff...but I prefer AIM, I like the instant response...

i use IMs when i can, but thats always been the case for me. but sometimes, email is the best choice.

You're alone  I use emails for everything, mainly checking up on my family and friends and all that.

I actually use e-mail to keep in touch with my distant family. It's alot cheaper than using the phone, and doesn't require a bloated fee for a stamp.

I webcam / IM with friends, and use email with the family. Mainly because older folks can't handle anything more complicated than outlook express.

I used email a TON when I first got to school, I ussually sent out about 5 messages a day and received just as many. I left my computer at home last quarter and haven't quite gotten in the groove again I guess.
I'm gonna go write 50 emails now.

I'm about 90/10 % IM's to Emails
Right now my computers broken [ Yes I already solved the issue, I'm just waiting for a cd to come in the mail for me to fix it, so thank you to those who said ' Hey I'll help you fix it, after all it's OTS! ] so I use email alot more because this is my friends computer and I don't really have the right to use it for long periods.
Anyway, I.M's are good for people your age or that are tech-literate or play online games, but email is good for people that are older or those that don't have I.M [Obviously] or those you don't see everyday. Idk about you but it's awkward for me to keep up a I.M conversation with someone who may live in a whole different school district that I've only known for a short period because I met them 3 times. Email is more formal.

I use my e-mail to keep in touch with my mom, and some other family members.
Other then that, I use an IM.

I pretty much use email to get in touch with the old lady if I'm not going to see her on that day, but I usually just call people. Then again...a lot of my friends are too poor to have computers. Those that do live pretty close to me so I just call, or I work with them so I see them 5 days a week anyway.
