Questions on the new comp I would like to build

I am planning on building a computer within the next six months. I am getting married June 26 so I don't have much to spend. Thus I am trying to keep the costs down. Here is my combo tell me what you think. To start the motherboard off I want to get a Chaintech 9CJS Zenith. I have read many excellent reviews on this board. The processor will be a 3.0 GHZ Pentium 4 with 800 MHZ front side bus. I have a WD 40 gig HD that I am going to use. I don't need more than 40 gigs I am lucky if I use 15 gigs of it . I am going to run Win 98 for starters until I can afford Win XP. I will probabally run a GeForce Asylum 128mb video card for the time being as I am not a real big gamer. I will pick a case with at least four fans or more. Lastly I have a question on the memory. I would like to run the dual channel 1 gig PC3200, but I can't afford the two sticks at the time. How badly will I suffer from one 512mb PC3200 until I can afford the other one? I already have a creative 52x optical drive and a floppy. So I don't need them. Please give me your input on my creation or if you have cheaper ideas please express them. Thank you for all your input it is appreciated.

The only thing I'd say is make sure to get a good 400watt psu.

Other than that your setup looks good.

Cool thanks Bix, I plan on getting a box with a 400-450 watt psu and a good fan array. Hey what do you think about the memory situation? The difference between a 512mb and 1gig with dual channel. Will it be a huge difference that I should go with the dual channel right away or will I be ok with 512mb for awhile. Thanks for responding Bix.

get a 512 stick to start with. win98 cant handle more than that without tweaking anyway. youll be fine unless you use real memory hogs. although i would recommend a ram manager if you do start to experience slowdowns.

I am not sure if you'd need that big of a PSU, I only have 360 watts and I have dual cpus, 4 drives, and a powerful video card, if you can afford it, go ahead, but if there is a price margin, 350 should be plenty, it doesn't sound like your doing heavy stuff on it.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I think I will just do the 512mb stick and Win98 for now. When I get enough money I will buy another stick and Win Xp (or Longhorn depending on when I get the money lol!) and install them together. Thanks again everyone I really appreciate the input.

I say 400 in case upgrading becomes needed. If the pc is around for more than about 2 years for example...

But you will notice a difference with dual channel. I'd wait until you have enough money for both the 2nd stick of 512 and XP, and do them both at the same time.

What kind of voltages are you getting? Thats cutting it very close running all that stuff.
