Counterstrike and winxp video problem

Okay, so I have a 2500+ 512dual channel ddr 9600xt 128mb card and winxp. Now my problem...driving me nuts....open game and get into the online screen (1.5) in my favorites list I choose my server to join, now if I do not get into the game on the first try, the game will boot you out to double click again, now comes my problem, once you try to get back in a second time I get a double screen with the cs backsplash with the guy holding his pistol. Top right of screen is a small version on top of the full screen. NOW if I get into the game, I can hear it in the background so I have to hit the windows key to get back to the desktop and then hit the half life toolbar button to get into the game. Once I am in the game I now get a flickering mouse cursor beside my crosshairs. Anyone run into this.
What I have done so far...fresh install of xp with all updates, reinstalled half life and cs, running dx9b, and reinstalled the ati drivers.....I am at a loss....
PLEASE HELP I am ready to put a fist through the screen.

Damn that used to happen sometimes with me...In the networks...It is annoying, but after a second try it would work normally. Crap i dont know how to fix it but i feel ur pain...Did you get the latest Drivers??U said you just reinstalled the drivers?? Dont think it will fix it though...But just do it because it will help in other games.
