Im really looking for good space sim games.. so i got a game called freespace 2. anyway..

if i configure it with 32 bit color then the game shows a white screen and wont work

if i configure it with 16 bit then the game shows white boxes for text and the graphics are all messed up (uses d3d)

not even close to playable

windows xp - sp1
duron 1.8ghz
xabre 400 64mb (works in all other d3d games)

anyway. im hoping to find a way to fix this.... hmm

I did have a remotely similar problem in the same game, but it was only the 2d animations in the Hangar that were screwy. The only thing i can recommend is :
Latest Video drivers if applicable.
Upgrade DirectX
Bump down the hardware acceleration in windows.
If that doesn't work, try running Freespace 1, with the acceleration down. because it actually officially supports 3d software emulation. That will tell you if it's the video card or not. (If it has a similar problem with the hardware acceleration, that is)

- i have directx 9.0

im going to try bumping it down to 7 and see if thats the problem. I really doubt it though.

- Hardware aceleration

ill bump it down and see whats happens. If it is this than what can i do to fix it. so that i dont have to change the acceleration when i want to play.

- play freespace 1

i dont own the game. and dont know of a place to download it.
