Installing P3 board - error message

After installing a Pentium III motherboard with a Celeron 1ghz processor into a machine that used to have a Pentium II motherboard and a Celeron 667 I am now getting a message when starting the PC saying "The processor is unusable or has been changed". I then go into setup and go to select the processor I now have but I can't seem to change the processor type from the one it's on. What am I supposed to be doing here?
