Another hosting problem

Hello, I'm having problems hosting too. I've looked around the site and tried to use that information, but, thus far, to no avail. I have a linksys router and a standard broadband RCA modem. I'm trying to host on this computer, connected to the main computer. I'm not too good at all the tech stuff, and I don't know if this info is needed or not, but when that computer is shut off, my internet is shut off. So yeah, if you could help, I'd appreciate it.

If all of the computers connected to your network are connected to the router, there should be no computer that when shut off, prevents you from connecting to the Internet. Did you mean to say that you're using a Linksys hub or switch? If you're using one of those and your ISP has assigned you only one IP address, in that case you'd have a computer that "serves the Internet" to the rest of your computers.

If you have a Linksys router, you need to go into its settings and forward port 6112 TCP to your IP address. Have you seen the instructions I've posted in several other threads for that?

If you actually have a Linksys hub or switch and you have a "host" computer, you need to go into the settings of the Internet connection-sharing software that the computer is running and forward the port. I posted instructions on how to do that in a thread at one point, but that thread seems to have disappeared (I'll have to type them up again if you need them).
