Need help choosing a printer...

I have a Cannon S300, which has never really worked. Recently, it just won't print at all. I need a new printer, but I'm not sure what to buy. Every printer I've ever had has been a problem. I am a college student, so I mostly print out black and white text, however, I do have a digital camera, and do want to print out nice looking pictures from time to time, but nothing huge. I am running XP pro, a P3, and have 256 RAM. Right now, I just need a relaible printer that will print my papers when I need it to, an occasional photo, and I can't spend too much money on it. Can anybody put my on the path to a decent printer? Thanks!

go with hp, they really are the most reliable imho. if you can give the pictures a miss (or print them out somewhere else), a low end black/white laser printer or high end inkjet would be good. if you need the color, id still look at their cheapest laser, but youll probably have to go with an inkjet.

Go with HP...IMO...and for good 1/2 price cartriges...dont get them from compusa(if ur in usa) or some shop....go to eliteinkjets.com... They are exactly the same as new cartriges although they are like refurbished...
