2 Screwy Mouses

Another day, another problem...
Well actually, i've had this problem for a while now.
But anyway, i've got two half working mouses. Here's the story behind each one.
Logitech Optical Mouse
USB
Keeps turning itself off, can sometimes be fixed temperarily by unplugging it then putting it back in again.
I had the same problem with my old computer, including with a different power supply. (Old power supply 250W, New one, 350W)
Eventually after you un/replug it a few times, it wont turn on at all.
Also, it only turns off while you're moving it.
I really want this one to work again as it's the only USB one i have...
A4 Tech Ball mouse
PS2
Stops dead, every now and again, not due to dirtiness (actually, it's one of the smoothest ball mouses i've ever used) But i believe the ps2 port is too slow, which shouldn't be the case... but that's the only reason i can think of. This is very Annoying when it comes to playing ut2004, i have completely lost it on a few occasions...
Also, the mouse likes double-clicking by itself, i think the problem is on the left and right button, but it's hard to tell for the right.
Again, i'm very sure that it isn't because of a fautly mouse. I have many reasons to support this, but they're hard to explain, you just... feel it...
No, i'm not a stoner
So what i'm after:
Reasons why the USB mouse keeps turning off and ways to fix that.
A way to cut down the amount of information sent by the PS2 mouse, in order to stop the... stoppages.
And, a way to fix that crappy double-clicking thing.
Come to think of it, i'm only using the crappy windows default drivers... concider myself looking for new mouse drivers for the a4 tech, still, many problems remain.
Thanks a bundle for any help again, you guys are life-savers.
EDIT
Also, so i don't end up opening a whole new thread for it, i can't see anyone's avatars...
They're selected to show, in the profile/options page...
I'm using Opera 7.5.
Thanks again.

The drivers might make a difference. I use a MS trackball and it loses some functions without the drivers installed.
You didn't say what your operating system was but I found this and this. Does that help?
