is it just me or is this not worth it.

i have searched and read the forums on "which isp do you have/suggest" and a couple other posts to answer most of my confusion. one thing that i am still confused about is the rates. i may be wrong but when my friend had the internet at my college(off campus, ethernet) she paid $50 a month and when i held my cursor over the two computers at the bottom right (LAN) it said 100mbps. is that just a great deal or am i misreading. also, are the above rates (link i posted at top) worth it ?

If anyone is like me and you just don't need pages to load that fast, and you don't download stuff all the time, or when you do you let your computer do it at night while you sleep, I recommend...
http://Access4Less.net/ (dial-up)
...only $5.99/mth, two free e-mail addresses, and never any spam, the big spammers don't seem to deal with this lesser known ISP. No banner adds and unlimited use. Never had any problems w/ them.

I get my internet through the cable company. I get 10MB webspace, 10 e-mail accounts, and I run at about 1500kbits/sec. That's just about $19.95 a month or so. I dunno, not too certain. If you can settle for dial-up, then ZLRAC has the idea. $5.99-$9.95 seems to be the average rate per month for dial-up.

the 100mbps means your computer's NIC is synchornizing w/ your modem or the network at 100mbps, not how fast your modem is synchornizing w/ the internet
and yes, that DSL company is indeed very expensive, usually you can find cheaper from your local telephone provider or cable tv provider

that is my local phone company. i live in a small town so we dont have to many different options(300 people in my town and about the same surrounding). i want to do away with dialup connection. does that mean that i dont have to use a local company then? we also have dish network so doesnt that count out cable connections? yeah its ok you can laugh at my questions ha ha
thank you
