Lagg on b.net

95% of the times I play starcraft on b.net I make the games lagg. And sometimes they can't even start the game because I'm there.
My computer is good enough for SC, my isp is very good, no other games lagg at all, I've disabled the XP-firewall, I've opened the port 6112 on my router/firewall (and i've also tried without the router). My OS is win XP.
I have a friend that is playing about 1 km away from me and he has no problems, even though his computer is much worse then mine... the only big difference is that he has win 98.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

You Guys Have Diffrent Latencys In Your Connections.
You Cannot Fix That.
Sorry

How come? So if one guy with a modem wants to play with another who's got xDSL or something, then they can't, or what? That's demonstrably bull... (excuse the tone)
I'd be grateful to have a more detailed description of the problem.

Never say never
Anyway daslyna, what ISP are you using? Is the friend you mention also using the same ISP as you? It's untrue that dial-up and broadband players can never play properly with each other, but sometimes an ISP may be too high latency that it can affect other players. It's not the connection speed that causes laggy games, it's the latency. AOL dial-up, for example, is notorious for this, since it is very high latency and can actually bog down other users, regardless of what connection type they are using. Some cable providers are also notorious for high latency - even though they have fast connections, they have packet overloads, and can also cause lag.
You may wanna try disabling all other programs you have in the background that constantly access the Internet (i.e. IM software, P2P, etc). One site you may wanna check out is http://www.speedguide.net/ and click on broadband, and it'll tell you which tweaks you can do that can improve your latency and connection speed. It may also help to do a scandisk/defrag of your system if you haven't done it in a while.
In any case, let us know if this helps, and good luck!
