media audio file from cd (not work)

I saved some music, not sure if in mp'3 with a 'set private bite' or just as what it now reads, 'media audio' I drag and dropped it because it does not show up on windows media pending sections!
any ideas why it does not play, open in cooledit, work full stop?
It has on it, licence protected, I may of been a mp3 that i set to private bites i cooledit! and then burnt it in media audio to cd,???
so any apps or ideas if i can work these files
