I heard that either we use our mind or emotions. Cant we use our mind while we are emotional ?

our emotions are a part of our mind.

Isn't it the left half of the brain that controls that jazz??

I don't think we can use both at the same time, if you have emotions you do thing in one way probably without reason to other but anyway you'll do that because you want to do that. If you think (you are using your mind) you do the thing in the other way. Well at least that's my case!

Can't say the same here, I'm extremely emotional but its always pretty easy for me to keep my head. I have to, otherwise I'd act from my emotions all the time.

you know theyre both working at the same time when your conscience is nagging at you. Your mind and your heart are vying for dominance.

Who told you that BS...nothing is either/or and that includes mental and emotional processes...emotion is derived from primitive situational reflexes i.e. big bad giant hungry bird circling over head, man freezes, or fire ignites on the prarie grasses and the whole tribe runs or other tribe tries to steal resources and tribe reacts with conflict. Mind or at least a part of its function allows us to remember these responses and put them in the appropriate context.

Granted... however it wasnt an either/ or statment. The point is that they work simultaneously regardless of cohesiveness or a lack there of. But then again, the question is open to interpretation... is this a question of morality vs. instinct or literally mind vs emotion?

I see an "either" and an "or" in there

i was refering to my previous statment not the question

a little egocentric are we? I was responding to the question not your statement. Should you wish me to, I would do so.

given the circumstances it seemed a fair assumption... as for your offer, i would be delighted to hear your input
