I haven't been able to run d2: lod bnet well at all, since i downloaded a F%$#in meph bot, im sure it was a trojan and i'm pretty sure it's still disabling me from running bnet the way ti used to
I need a way to get rid of it or fix my connection problem. Sometimes i can get on bnet for a short while but then atfer a bit i get disconnected. Sometimes atfer i leave a game it will be all slow and screen will go black, and im completely disconnected, HELP !!!!

Posted by: Shark

Note: i have reset my realms in the registry and i have re-installed it, using different CD keys too

Posted by: NegotiatorSmith

If you think that the bot dumped a trojan on you that's causing a problem, uninstall the game, delete your Diablo II directory from your hard drive if it's still there and reinstall it. I know that this has gotten rid of the spam-bot trojan that some people have gotten after downloading a hack or a bot.

You could also check your list of running processes and look for anything suspicious while you're playing Diablo II.

Posted by: Shark

How do i delete the directory exactly. Can u give me a procedure? I jsut don't want to mess up anything

Posted by: NegotiatorSmith

Use Windows Explorer to find the directory and delete it. The default location is C:\Program Files\Diablo II. Simply right-click on the directory and choose "Delete".

Posted by: Shark

it gave me an error when i tried to delete it. The file binkw32.dll couldn't be deleted

Posted by: NegotiatorSmith

Reboot your computer, make sure you don't start up Diablo II and then try again.

Posted by: Shark

I restarted comp. and i deleted the diablo II directory. What do i do next?

Posted by: NegotiatorSmith

Well, now you're going to have to reinstall the game. I trust that you uninstalled it before you deleted the directory?

Once you've reinstalled it, try playing again and see if you have any problems. Hopefully whatever was bugging you has been deleted...

Posted by: Shark

How do i re-install the directory, so i just re-install game completely?

Posted by: NegotiatorSmith

Yes, to re-create the directory, simply reinstall the game.

Posted by: Shark

Okay i re-installed the game and it's updated to 1.10 but i'm still having problems connecting.

Posted by: Shark

Uhhh....looking up at the conversation, i didn't un-install the game before i deleted the directory, i just deleted director, and THEN un-installed game

Posted by: NegotiatorSmith

If you can't connect to Battle.net, attempt to connect to any realm again, then look for a file named bnetlog.txt in your Diablo II directory. Post its contents and we'll see what the problem is.

EDIT:

It doesn't really matter if you deleted the directory before you uninstalled, all that matters is that the directory's contents were cleared out.

I tried connecting to all realms, none of them worked. I went into the Bnetlog.txt and this is what i saw:

Okay, the problem is that the bot program has modified your server list so that you're trying to connect to yourself - 127.0.0.1 is a local loopback IP address. Follow these steps (you have may seen them before) and then try to connect again:

Reset the Battle.net server list:
This step is not for Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos or The Frozen Throne users.
Click on Start then Run.
Type regedit and click OK.
Click on the + icon beside the HKey_Local_Machine branch.
Click on the + icon beside the Software branch.
Select the Battle.net branch and press the delete key.
Click on the + icon beside the HKey_Current_User branch.
Click on the + icon beside the Software branch.
Select the Battle.net branch and press the delete key.
Now start the game and connect to Battle.net.

Okay sorry for posting that last reply, i couldnt see your post. I have done that before and the problem occurs even after i have reset the battle.net server list.

Posted by: Shark

Nevermind, the game is running fine for now, ill post if it stops working, thank you so much.

Posted by: NegotiatorSmith

EDIT:

Glad to hear it's working again.

Posted by: Shark

Okay this morning i tried to connect and when it was connecting, "checking versions" just kept going. Why is this happening?

Posted by: NegotiatorSmith

Post the contents of bnetlog.txt, please. Are you able to connect to any of the realms?

Posted by: Shark

nvm, fixed.

Your log looks fine, but the problem you're experiencing is usually associated with trojans that come with hack programs. You haven't been downloading more bots, have you?

Are you able to connect to any of the other realms besides USEast?

Posted by: Shark

HAHA no , no more bots, for some reason its working fine. My Diablo 2 lod is weird lol....

Posted by: Shark

IT'S NOT WORKING AGAIN. Thsi time I CAN connecto to all realms but USEast, the one I play on....

I think there is a chance the bot is still on one of my computers. Because i have deleted the diablo ii directory and re-installed the game too tho.

Posted by: NegotiatorSmith

According to your log, a couple times you were trying to connect to a non-USEast IP address... maybe your ISP was having a DNS issue.

Were you disconnected from USEast the last time you were on it? If so, most likely you have been temporarily restricted from connecting to it. These temporary restrictions usually last from several hours to a day or two, with a maximum restriction of two days.

Posted by: Playa

I get the same problem but I cant connect to any realms. I tried regedit then deleted the battl.net but that still didnt work.
