Slow Startup

I installed Norton Antispam 2004 on my pentium 4 computer with win xp pro, which already had Norton Systemworks 2003 installed. I noticed that it took much longer to load up Norton Antivirus at startup, when I removed Antispam, the long delay at startup remained. Is there some sort of conflict between these programs, should I reload NSW 2003?

ugh, more norton bungles.
check your xp services that are running, and disable those you dont need. even if you did this before, norton might have enabled some of them.
if that makes no difference, completely uninstall all norton programs (you will need a removal tool available from their website), run a registry cleaner, then reinstall systemworks.
something in there should do it

I uninstalled nsw2003, ran their registry cleaner to make sure it had all been removed. I then reinstalled nsw2003, the delay in loading disappeared, however after all the updates had been downloaded from symantec, the norton antivirus autoprotect was disabled and and the email scanning showed an error. I'm steadily losing confidence in symantec software.
