Do you guys still believe that the Phantom is nothing but a con?

I don't particularly care one way or the other.

I'm not being funny, but in that case... why did you post?

Agreed, I have a PC and a gamepad (not to mention a MAME cabinet) why would I want another?

It's too white to match the rest of my home electronics. I'm going to have to pass on this console even though I really wanted to spend money on an outdated computer to play games that are 1) old, 2) multiplatform or 3) not fun.
Oh well, I guess I'll just buy a more useful game machine, like an N-Gage.

I dunno ... we see the hardware, but I haven't seen any review as to how it can actually handle games via subscription and make it unlike the xbox (which is already a PC/console hybrid), or whether the system itself is worth the overwhelming hype machine behind it, almost calling themselves the next coming in some instances, hehe ...
I mean, anyone can build a PC with a fancy case just for show... we'll have to wait some more and see how it pans out, I guess

It's more a case of this: a hell of a lot of the people on this forum believing that it was nothing but a con... refusing to believe that it could exist.. and yet, there it is...
I can't say that I'm interested in getting it myself, but it might be good...

Well, it might still be a con ... as I said, anyone can build a PC with a fancy case just for show ... so I'm still waiting for something that separates it from a mere PC with a hype machine behind it...

No one refused to believe it could exist. People just weren't believing that it was going to be some great console, or that it would actually get anywhere. Doesn't matter what they are doing, it's not really a console. It's a full PC and they are going to try and do a games subscription service. It's not gonna fly.

Its out of date before its hitting the shelves. Unless they plan on running games at low details.
But its pretty rediculous to have to pay a montly fee to play games online that are free.

There was a game list of the games you got to play when you bought it. Every single game was at least 3 years old and education titles made up 20% of the list. All the games they showed on the system (ie UT2k4) and everything else that is new didn't make the list. The developers don't want to sign up and already expressed their concerns with the Phantom guys using their titles without their permission so it's unlikely that you'll ever get to play anything new with it. It's not like you can play anything relatively new on the system so it doesn't matter if it is out of date or not.

Here is one of Gamespot's articles about their games.
Here is a game list I could find. The Phantom guy's took their list down.
Game List (Yes it's sad)
Show me some new titles for today's best sellers.
