Can someone tell me what size the speakers are in a 1995 Nissan Altima please? I can't seem to find that little bit of information.
thanks

Best way would be to take the cover off the back and look. That's what I did in my Saturn before I replaced them.

Well, what from what I can see, your rear has 6.5" round speakers for the rear, paired up with a set of 4"x6" front speakers.
This may be wrong, but my source hasn't been wrong yet!
And 6.5 round speakers rock! I like them ALOT better than 6x9's

Really? I have 6.5s all around and I always figured 6x9s would be better...

My old car had 6.5"s around the house, new one does too, cept with some fun lil tweeters
6x9 can offer a deeper low end hit, but not always better sound.

The circlular shape of the cone allows for better "throughput" of sound. Not just a thump. The quality is much greater, and a 6.5" can actually hit better with higher quality.
The 6x9 shape uses less power to push the same sound. All while dropping the quality. 6.5's are alot better in alot of ranges.

If your looking for some good speakers, Bestbuy has some deals this week on some good speakers:
(these ones light up)

(350w RMS Subs)

They also have a Sony 1200watt amp for $200, but its only 200/250w RMS.

I had Pioneer 3way 6.5"s around the civic, damn good stuff
I gotta upgrade the damn head unit in the Acura, it'll give it so much more hit.

I have put sony 6.5s in all around...they hit GREAT for the first week or two, but then the bass drops off dramatically and I have to use the equilizer to get any decent sound...I'm thinking some nice subs and an amp, because the rest of the sound coming from my sony 3-ways is great.
Edit: I'm just waiting for Canis to move this thread into "the car thread"...

LMFAO BIX!
Skyhn, those are some "kewl" looking 6x9's, but thier statistics for a polypropylene cone aren't very high, specially the power. Usually a nice 6x9 with a poly cone rate at least 200w peaks, and have at least a 30Hz response. Still cool.
And yuk, those aren't "very" good. They have high punch, weak response ranges. They are good if all you want is a kick now and then, thier ability to hold a rumble is nill. I was looking at those until I actually saw them. You don't want to hold those in a high powered amp, they'll fry the coils faster than anything. :P Thier round Xplod's are better all around.
I got a set of VR3 Xtremes in my cutlass, and I can rumble ALL day with my 1000w 2 channel. You usually want to match the RMS with the amp's power, if you're going for maximum sound quality. Just because a speaker can handle 1200 watts, doesn't mean it'll sound good doing so.
Bixer, of course, you gotta remember, you're using a paper surround most likely, or if foam, REALLY weak. For hit ability, you need the speaker to be able to move, and be forced to. They wear out because of thier extremely small surrounds. Just ask my GF's escort speakers LOL

Why not just buy a $50 4 channel low power equalizer amp? Cheaper than a head unit, and will provide a little more "bump" for the bumpless teggy. LOL

www.crutchfield.com
left side column
"what fits my car"
they'll hook you up.

I've looked at crutchfield but decided not to buy there because of the high prices. Plus I work at Best Buy, so I get wholesale prices on everything in the store...I'm just waiting till I have the cash and I can get a $500 amp for around $320...hehehe

B/C that requires running a line thru the firewall thru the car and trying to hide it, as well as installing an amp somewhere. No thx, with all that a head unit won't be much more expensive.

Since when does installing an amp require going through the firewall? I know several people that have big systems on their cars, their amps are in the trunk.

I don't really think Crutchfield is that overpriced. But that's opinion. In anycase I sent him there because they have detailed info on pretty much any car made in the last 20 years or so. And they will tell you the dimensions of your deck and all the speakers. Also what degree of customization it would require for any type of installation. Best Buy doesn't do that.

Most high powered amps require a direct connection to the VCD, or to the battery itself. They suck ALOT of power, sometimes over 50amps worth of power. You "can" install them in the trunk, and drill a hole in the trunk and run one under the car, but going through the firewall is the easiest way to run a shorter cable.
And Gerb, installing a 50w or so amp won't require much. You could probably force feed it into the wiring harness holes that are already in the firewall. They don't need a 1/2" power cable.
Either way, it's up to you.

Headunit will be a much cleaner and easier install.
Posted by: The-AoD
Cause you're the pansy!
I'd install it for you, but I wouldn't wanna break the teggy.
Posted by: Gerbilo
headunit is still easier
