I need help making a network, so I can play Empire Earth on 2 computers. I don't know how to make the network for the Lan. I have a Windows XP and a Windows 98, is that the problem. The win XP already had a ethernet connecter but i bought a Network Everywhere Fast Ethernet 10/100 Network Card for the Windows 98 and installed it without problems. The XP has a Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC, is mixing the brands the problem? I really need help PLEASE

With a Win XP network you are allowed one system with an older OPS ie..Win98 or ME. Connect the two computers with an RJ45 Patch cable (Crossover Patch cable if they are directly connected.)

Run "Set up a home or small office network" from within your XP Network Connections Folder ( all machines are booted & ready.) It should walk you through making a disk that you use in the other computer. If you run a firewall (and you should be) you may have to configure it for access as well.

Hope this helps.

I did everything you told me to,and made the network and when I made the disk for the Windows 98 and installed it, I had to restart my computer and when I did, right before login it said "Unable to load dynamic link library. NWNP32.dll The system cannot find the file specified. Some or all of the following feature is not available: Netware" What should I do? And whats the diffrence from a RJ45 Patch Cable and a Crossover Patch Cable?

Is it Win 98 SE or first?
What firewall do you have?

A crossover Patch Cable has the wires "crossed" or "switched" for a direct connection.

It says Second Edi. and I don't know about my firewall.
