Accroding to this guy, all spam emails we get regarding sexual things, like porn, 'enlargement', virility, etc are all sent from Aliens. They are sending us these things to prepare us for an invasion where we will be enslaved as the aliens sexual slaves.
Part of me says "what a quack", but the other part says "Its about damn time!"

Honestly, I have to disagree. What is the deal with starcraft?? It's a pretty average RTS. What is so special about it? Seriously??

C&C was just a scroll down menu. It doesn't get any easier than that. You don't have any movement orders or anything either in c and c. Just click and go. Easy enough. i don't hate SC or BW, I just thought they were average games. Nothing awesome.
Half life is much better than both series.

Hey Clarke I am about to take a crack at your question;
Disclaimer- i am speaking for myself here and all opinions expressed here are peculiar to me . Now that that is out of the way...
I loved SC becasue of a few basic things. For one, it was the most perfectly balanced RTS i had ever seen or played. Every unit has a counter-unit and no race was "better" than the other. Despite the fact that it was a very simple game, it required an amazing amount of strategy, esp when you are pitted against other experienced players as well. plus i jsut get a rush/ high whenever i hear my Arctic Siege Tanks (which was Bix's avatar 'til he changed :grr go into siege mode and know that there is nothing my opponent can do. Also i just love the sound of "Battlecruiser Operational." Ah!
There are many other reasons i love Starcraft and still play it right now rather than any other RTS. This is quite narrow however as i have never really played any C&C game in-depth (too bored) and i havent evne played any Warcraft game except Warcraft 3.

A relatively new warcraft-like game is out - Spellforce. It mixes strategy & RPG elements. I've read good reviews about it, but has anyone played it yet?

Okay, allow me to state me case here, please...
I love C & C. I always have. I own every single one except Generals. I like these games because they are just plain fun. The music is good. The interface is easy enough to learn. Nothing complicated. The speech is good, and the pace of the game is good. It's satisfying to just demolishing stuff. There are downsidies, of course. The AI can be dumb at times, and lack of descritpions of units can make the game unclear for newbie players, and the missions can be sometimes easy, or insanely hard. Overall, I prefer c & c because there is so much more there compared to SC.
I played SC, and actually own it w/ BW. It's a fine game. However, it's not the greatest game ever made. It's not even close, in fact. It's a pretty typical build-a-base destroy-the-enemy game. Yes, c & c is like that too. However, SC doesn't have the greatest music ever, although the speech is good. The interface is typical. There are not enough units at all. There could be a lot more, indeed. Not enough buildings either. The SCV's always get stuck and screw me over. The AI likes to overwhlem you too early in skirmish matches. Overall the game is just plain. I will admit, the races are balanced accordingly, and that is a cool feature. in C & C RA (Red Alert)2, the allies have the obvious advantage with Prism Tanks. In the original RA, the soviets had tesla coils and stuff. Despite that, I enjoyed playing.
I am not a huge fan of SC, or the plot of it, or the general style of it. C & c is a funny game, with interesting units, and not necesarily a huge amount of depth or anything. It's a good game to sit down wioth and blow up everything. It's fun, and I personally think that it is a much better series than SC ever will be.
I'm not saying that SC is a bad game. It isn't. It's a plain game, and is a RPG that has some good elements. C & C has been around for a longer time, and has a more established fanbase. The game is just good, and I personally will play C & C over SC anyday.
That is my opinion.

I think most people would hate SC at first because you cant simply group ever unit in the game. i know that is what turned me off at first, but when i continued man i was blown away.
The music can be very tedious, i admit. Plus, as Clarke said, its a simple build-a-base and destroy game, but you are forgetting one thing Clarkey old bean, its Starcraft!

They did the same thing with CS too if I'm not mistaken.
Both the revamped HL AND HL2 were supposed to be made available this summer but they kept putting off the HL2 release date, whereas they'll stick to the "HL-bis" summertime schedule..

Half Life was a completely awesome FPS that I think is unique to this day. There was just something special about it.
It creeped the hell out of me, but it was an awesome feeling.
Escaping from that huge facility, hearing creepy noises, then being attacked in the face by a headcrab when you least expect it was just plain cool. The marines also were an interesting twist.
True, there is little replay value. But it doesn't matter. I'd play it over again.
There is just something strange about HL that drew me in. It was a good game.

HL wasnt bad, the one thing that struck me was the fact that the AI was really good. The soldiers did do their best to use tactics and flush you out. I esp liked the sounds of "GRENADE!" when you tossed one. Played it once and no need to again. Also it amused ,me to see the marines running and ducking for cover and somesuch. Really funny stuff. The weapons were great though, especially the Hornet Gun and the Gauss Gun in Op For
I still havent played Blue Shift though
