I have a friend who has a Dell computer and having problem when they're online. They can't seem to get on alot of site or check their email but when they're offline they have no problem.Any suggestions or ideas on how to fix this problem? Thanks.

How do you browse sites and check your e-mail offline, other than using Internet Explorer's "work offline" feature and things like that?

The problem is they can't go online. They can sign in though.

Does that mean that they can connect to the Internet, but they can't browse webpages and such? Are they able to ping their default gateway (check what it is in ipconfig)?

How do they check that?

They check that by going to Start>Run>Type 'cmd'>Type ' IPconfig '

Usually the reason you can't go to certain web pages is because of either.

A) Security that is set by the admin
B) Your internet browser settings
Or
C) I've had Spyware and Adware prevent me from going to certain sites in the past, try to get rid of those.

Edit: Btw, Dell Technical support is pretty good and dependable from what I've heard, tell your friend to give them a call.

Try running
Start > Run > Cmd (press enter)
Type this:
Ipconfig /flushdns (press enter)
