Local Auctions

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Anyone know where I can find a list of auctions? I'm not talking about ebay, but local auctions, or does anyone know where I would go to find out where auctions are being held in my area?

The reason I ask is because my friend just got three arcade machines (Two Star Trek simulator two pieces made in 1983 and Mortal Kombat, the original) all for around 30$, one of the Star Trek machines is missing the change slot, but aside from that, they all work.

The reason I ask is because I myself am looking to pick up a neo-geo cabinet (Even if it doesn't work ).

Check your area's public buildings (resturaunts, city hall, etc) for community bulletin boards - those tackboards where people stick advertisements. You should be able to find all kinds of local events, including auctions.

Also check the classified ads under the Auctions column. Some local newspapers have quite a listing.

Darky if you looking for a arcade cabinet and you don't find one right away at any auction type place you might do what I did.

I just looked up coin-op in the yellow pages and called all of the local distrubitors looking for a gutted cabinet. Most of them had empty cabs they'd be willing to sell from 20-100 depending on the type that is was. My MAME box is just an old Double Dragon box that I converted to the standard SF2 layout when I refinished it.

I was watching the auctions here in Boise, and the times they did have cabinets they were usually pretty beat up and went for more than I wanted to pay.

The larger more popular cabs usually go for a lot more even if they are gutted.
