35 minutes from blank harddrive to full working win98 install.

Beat that!

Posted by: Canis Lupus

Hmmm, can't beat that ... coz I won't install Win98 anymore, hehehe

Posted by: Null Actor

hehe... well, 2k is next. I still like to keep win98 around for that odd old dos game I'd like to play. Or things like dos-based 3d and realtime raytracing demos.

Posted by: Null Actor

BTW, awesome new sig. I like that quote a lot.

Posted by: Canis Lupus

Hehehe, thanks

I'll be reformatting my computer again before Christmas, and this time I'll be going purely Win2K on NTFS ... most of the games I like to play already run well on Win2K, so I have no need for Win98 anymore...

Hell, the last time I booted into Win98 was probably two months ago, hehee

hehe Laggy, I could never go back to Windows 98. Heck it was torture working on a Windows Me machine last week.

I'll be reformatting next week myself. I just ordered the EPoX EP-8K7A along with 512 megs of Mushkin High Performance PC2100 DDR-SDRAM. It should kick-ass once I can throw a Palamino on it.

Should be my last upgrade this year not including a GeForce 3.

1 hour to install windows 2000, including sp2.

Man I'm good

Posted by: Bishop

yes laggy, that sig is great.

reminds me of zakath's quote.

"you know, it's odd, the people who cling to life tend to die young. Since I really don't care either way, I'll probally live to be a hundred"

You haven't had time to install ICQ yet. :P

Posted by: Null Actor

Well, that's cause software always takes longer, so I don't include it in the core of the install...

These install times include installing the OS, all drivers for all hardware, and most of the patches/upgrades for the OS.

Not a bad set of timings if I do say so myself.

Hrmm, I gotta format soon,... I'm just gonna dump everything over to my other drive that I wanna keep.... I should get win2k, but I don't feel like paying for it, but there are ways around that lol.

Posted by: uh...ok

Nova it takes me 20 minutes to format and restore Windows 98 SE and all the drivers for my stuff.

-uh...ok

Posted by: Null Actor

Yeah well, I don't have an image for my new system :P

Posted by: Gerbilo

hehe, pump out the image to all the machines!!

Posted by: Chako

It takes me 45 minutes but then, some time is wasted in trying to find all my drivers....I think I should get better organized.

Posted by: uh...ok

Norton Ghost rox0rs j00!

-uh...ok

Posted by: Ion Silverbolt

That's partly why I decided to get an Epox board. It comes with the latest Norton Ghost.

Posted by: Null Actor

I want to get ghost some time, but it's expensive :/

Posted by: Chako

Ion what version of ghost do you get nowadays? Back in 99, they shipped it with ver 5.1

Posted by: uh...ok

I have the full version of Ghost2K on one of my CDs... I can do an overnight upload for you to get it if ya want Nova.

It's not too big a file, last I checked.

-uh...ok

Posted by: uh...ok

Yeah, I just checked my CD... the whole setup and proggy is only 10 megs. I'll upload it to my site once Earthlink decides to get it working again.

Unless someone wants to host a 10MB storage area for me.

-uh...ok
