So I went to Best Buy at Galleria today in an attempt to look for a wireless keyboard/mouse set, and while I was there, I decided, "What the heck, swing by EB as well."
So I did and got myself a copy of Shining Force for GBA, even though my SP is at home, and I won't be home for another week. Now I can ogle at it now until I get back.
Did you get your copy yet?

I still have 3 unplayed new PC games and I got backed up on console games during the school year and need to play/beat 12 so it'll be awhile before I get around to it. Keep us posted on how good the new version was from the old one.

So far it's looking hot. The game doesn't have much replayability, and considering I had played through 75% of it last summer, I'm not going through it as fast as I'd like.
But the new graphics are pretty cool (though I, for one, prefer the old graphics), and they did some pretty good UI enhancements as well as some things that facilitate gameplay. The card system isn't what I expected at all, and it looks like it could become a very fun aspect of the game.
Besides that, if you liked the original, you'll definitely love this. And if you never played the original, you'll also love this.

Hells yeah I got my copy.
I already beat it too. That game freaking rocked my socks right off. I am digging out my old Sega CD so I can play through Shining Force CD. I forgot how much I loved those games. Anyone know if they are releasing any more on the GBA?

There's one on CD? To my knowledge there are only five Shining Force games:
Shining Force (SGen/Megadrive)
Shining Force II (SGen/Megadrive)
Shining Force II: Sword of Hajya (Sega GameGear)
Shining Force III (Sega Saturn)
Shining Force: RotDD (GBA)
EDIT: Of course Google has all the answers... I guess there IS a Shining Force CD... time to see what it's like, and see if I can find any copies around.
2nd EDIT: Oh it's just the same game as the GameGear version. While that was fun (being the only handheld version of SF at the time) I thought it was lacking a lot since the RPG element of walking around towns and talking to people was entirely gone. The RPG/Strat "true hybridness" was what made SF stand out from most games at the time (and even most games today) for me.
I'm still pissed off about the changed FREEZE animation on the GBA version though. It was one of my favorite spells, and had one of my favorite spell animations. It's almost enough to make me wanna go running back to the Genesis version on my computer...
