counter-strike servers problem

when ever i try to view the servers, all of the pings are at least in the 200s, this has happned for 2 months now and i have tried both my desktop and my laptop, even did a clean windows install
at first i thought it's my router and when i plugged my computer directly to my cable modem, the problem presists
some times when i click the refresh server, nothing happens, some time the server refreshes but the status of all the servers appears to be "not responding"
when i join a game w/ pings that high, and i press "tab" to view my ping, it appears to be around the 50s
i ran a virus scan and adaware scan, nothing came up, and i opened up all the ports in my router configuration too

So you don't lag at all when you actually play? (50 ping is good). Or does it show 50 ping but you're chopping/lagging really bad?
You are using Steam right? I haven't using the actually old HL/CS game browser in a long time considering that's still 1.5 and not updated/supported anymore.

yes i am using steam, no i don't lag when i play but the server browser window shows very high pings
the problem is some of the servers that i use to play on before this happens doesn't even show up the the server broswer anymore, right now the only server that shows are... how do you say this... "clumpsy" servers, w/ like 1 or 2 people playing stupid maps, they are not popular servers w/ 32 people in them
