Remove it and reinstall it, but you have to have clean platform before
reinstalling the NAV. Lots of PC users do the mistake installing NAV to already damaged OS hoping miracle cure.
Before reinstalling the NAV run Scan Disk, Defrag, Ad Aware, Spybot, Recistry Cleaner,... etc.
When reinstalled the NAV then update it stright away and run it through.
There is also several point on the www.symantec.com about the NAV not running well, but most of the problems are made by the users.
Also read the manual that came with it.

I have the whole Norton System Works 2004 and it does work well.

sounds like you have either a virus, or some rather nasty spyware. start with an online AV scan such as the one found at http://housecall.trendmicro.com

if you dont find a virus:

1. completely uninstall all norton programs. there is a removal tool available at symantec which you will need to do this properly.
2. reboot and run all maintenance programs as suggested above. reboot afterwards if a significant number of problems were fixed.
3. reinstall and update the norton software you want

note that on occasion, norton just will not work properly on your system, although its rare.

you might also try reinstalling nortan into a diffrent folder, the reason being if the virus is f***ing with nortan, it wont look for it there.
