socom headset probs 1 and 2, no router

okay kids here we go...
my socom headset hasnt worked in a few months now, on and off...with socom 1 or 2. now take note, i DO NOT use a router...what i do is this: i have a second dsl modem, and its not usb, and i leave it next to the play station. when i want to play, i drop my phone line to my computers dsl modem, since dsl can only be used out of 1 phone line in the house at a time...then i go into my front room, and hook up the other phone line to my ps2...i have done it this way forever, in fact this is the only way i have done it since ive played socom 1 and 2, and this configuration has worked before, so i know its good... any ideas on how to fix it??
