explorer.exe crashes!!!

almost every time i start my pc
when i log in, explorer.exe crashes multiple times
and reloads itself
sometimes in the middle of everything it does it, but that is rare
when i play some games (the ones i know of r halo and ut04) it does the same thing and explorer.exe crashes and reloads.
what can i do?/what is the problem?
i know a clean install will do it, but i have done a lot of that recently because i had one driver which wouldn't work
it took me months but i managed to get it to work perfectly
a full reinstall of windows will take me a full week, and i am too busy for that at the moment
i just want to know what is causing it really
any ideas?

it shouldnt take you a week........
but try a repair installation.

and seeing as i am still in school, it will take me all my time that i have for a week then all of saturday to do it, i have a lot of software to install aswell as a lot of hardware to install drivers for and set up
(the week includes me actually doing my homework during that week aswell)

explorer is the gui for windows. what in particular is causing yours to crash, other than a corruption in one of its modules, who knows. if a repair installation does not work, you can try disabling most of your start up programs and see if that helps.

I tried telling you that you should overclock when using your jet7....
so cant believe that I found this thread on the net.... man... must have been a one in 100000000 chance of me finding it...
Ah well, that'l teach you to use GoBack :P... along with a Non rheobus fan controller... and a non Antec case....
Hmmm, if you throw a shoe at it, it might help... possibly.... or maybe not... try raping it too... if that doesnt work.... you could always use GoBack to stuff things up even more... if not a good ol format and overclock should fix it....
Hmmm... dunno... i think a good ol gang show banging would fix it....

Yeah it will with this guy.... he's to paranoid about doing anything with the system and what not...
