Ok, I have 2 computers. The "gateway" computer in the living room is using xp, the computer i'm trying to play on is using win98.

There is a EW5HUB - Ethernet 5-Port Workgroup Hub (Linksys) connecting the two computers. I tried using that 192.168.1.1 thing and I get a blank page.
I found out there is no firmware for this hub either.

Im using a new T.V/DSL service hybrid and the T.V and dsl box are the same box.(looks like a big black box with all the DSL jacks)

Dont know if it matters, but I disabled the XP firewall on the gateway computer if that matters any.

When I run ipconfig in DOS I get this message on the gateway computer

Ethernet Adapter 1:

Connection Specific DNS Suffix : paulbunyan.net
IP Address: 172.25.34.118
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.248
Default Gateway: 172.25.34.113

The other computer (trying to play on this one)

0 Ethernet Adapter:
IP Address: 172.25.34.117
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.248
Default Gateway: 172.25.34.113

I dont know what to do.

This is because you are not connected to a hardware router that has a Web interface. Your hub doesn't have any firmware because well... it's a hub. All it does is take incoming data packets, spit them out to everyone connected to the hub and that's it.

Your computer has been assigned a non-routable IP address, which is part of the problem right there. To host, you need to find a way to forward incoming traffic on port 6112 TCP to that computer.

If the "gateway" computer is running Internet connection-sharing software, you need to go into the settings of the software and forward the port. Windows XP comes with some built-in software like that... are you using it?
